Reflexology FAQ
How does having the meridians work on the feet help the body?
Reflexology is a modern Western therapy in which pressure is applied to specific areas and meridian points. It is a gentle art and fascinating science using specific movements on the feet. Just like a battery the body is an energy system that can run flat. The body is consistently changing, the energy is always moving and needs to be recharged. As a qualified therapeutic reflexologist, I work with the energy pathways or meridians and various reflexes on the feet relating to specific organs and encourage a smoother flow of energy. By improving the way that energy flows through the body, we can enhance the body's function and also as a form of preventative healthcare. You don’t need to have your energy battery flat before you recharge it, just like your cell phone battery if you keep it charged regularly you will keep it from going flat and leave you feeling more balanced. What is amazing is that the reflexologist is only a facilitator of the healing.
How will I feel after a treatment?
The body’s own healing can result in clearing toxins which could lead to a detox effect that can include, but not exclude a headache, increased energy, or an increase in urination. It will mostly depend on your body and how far you are on your healing journey.
What does Reflexology do for the person receiving treatment?
When the body is out of balance it is not functioning efficiently. By stimulating the reflexes on the feet, an involuntary response is elicited in organs and glands connected by energy pathways to these specific reflexes. This sets a chain reaction in motion, which causes physiological changes to occur throughout the body systems. The purpose of stimulating the reflexes and meridians is to stimulate the BODY TO HEAL ITSELF. The reflexologist has no control or is responsible for the chemical reactions a patient might feel after the treatments.
Who can benefit from Reflexology and when should I not have a reflexology treatment?
Anyone can benefit from Reflexology treatments, regardless of age or gender.
Caution is taken if you have a current condition that could exclude you from the benefits of reflexology, however, please inform the therapist of any of the following: Insulin-dependent diabetics, Pancreas issues, First-trimester pregnancy, Osteoporosis, Epilepsy
When won't I do a reflexology treatment? If suffering from thrombosis or internal bleeding, On blood thinning medication for thrombosis, Sufferers of phlebitis (inflammation of the walls of a vein.). Currently being treated for lymphatic cancer, leukemia.
Can reflexology cure me?
Reflexology does not cure diseases, such as cancer, multiple sclerosis, or Aids, but a patient can be made more comfortable and the pain bearable. It can significantly improve the patient’s general condition, activate excretory organs, stimulate the respiratory system and assist in better control of the bladder and bowels. In this way, Reflexology treatments can improve the quality of life.
Can a reflexologist Diagnose illness or disease?
Reflexologists do not diagnose, or treat a specific disease or illness, interfere with medication or prescribe medication. If you have a specific medical problem or complaint, you are advised to seek professional medical help. You should also discuss any problems or complaints with the therapist if you are unsure whether or not to continue with treatment for whatever reason. Reflexology is not to be used instead of a medical practitioner or advice of your primary physician but rather used to support the body and work with your medical physician.
Is there any evidence to prove that reflexology works?
I believe that being a healing modality since 2500BC is proof that reflexology has stood the test of time because of its effectiveness. Still not convinced? Not to fear, there is a multitude of fantastic studies being done every day. Please send me a message and I can happily provide you with some references to great books, websites, articles, and evidence-based studies showing the possible benefits of reflexology in reducing pain, aiding in infertility, lymphatic swelling, and painful feet to name a few and testimonials of people all around the world who have added this modality to their lives and found the benefits.
How many treatments will I need?
Just like any self-care being regular is key, and the more often you can receive reflexology the more beneficial it can be. It would depend on what you are seeking a reflexologist for and your own healing requirements. Feel free to discuss this when booking your 1st treatment.

Why should I buy a package and not just session by session?

Comprehensive Support: With a package, you receive a more holistic coaching experience. We can delve deeper into various aspects of your life and relationships, addressing different areas systematically and comprehensively. This ongoing relationship allows for adjustments and refinements as you evolve.
Cost-Effective: Purchasing a package often offers better value compared to single sessions. You benefit from a lower per-session rate and sometimes additional resources or bonuses that are not available with individual sessions.

Is coaching and therapy the same thing?
Coaching isn't therapy and can be a great add to your healing journey in conjunction to therapy!
While both coaching and therapy can support personal development, coaching is typically more focused on achieving future goals and enhancing performance, while therapy delves into emotional and psychological healing from past experiences.
Coaching is not a substitute for therapy and phycological diagnosed mental illness that require a qualified practitioner or medical professional.
